Gillian Hawker, MD, MSc

Dr. Gillian Hawker is Professor and Chair of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and a Clinician Scientist in the Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. Her research is focused on access to and outcomes of care for people with osteoarthritis (OA). A predominant theme has been on appropriate use of joint replacement surgery. She has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and has received a number of honours and awards for her research, including the Canadian Rheumatology Association Distinguished Investigator Award in 2011. For her continued contributions to osteoarthritis research, Dr. Hawker was honoured by The Arthritis Society of Canada with a Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2013.
